About me

I was born on the beautiful island of Mallorca, Spain, on 17 October 1966 to English parents, Dick and Marjorie Bullett. I have one older brother, Paul.

I have always been a spiritual person. I believe that whatever we do in life is for us to learn something about ourselves. Whichever job you do, who you know… all, part of your journey of discovery. If at all times you know who you are with all your strengths and weaknesses then you can confront anything that comes your way, good or bad. We are all connected.

Everything that is found within is found without. We are part of nature and the further away we move from her the more lost we feel.

Many things interest me - movies, music, painting, dancing. I am curious about how things work and the WHY. On many occasions in my life I have found that the only explanation possible is that the beings on my planet got tired of me asking WHY? and put me on earth, erased my memory and yet I still carried on asking WHY? and so I believe myself to be human but I don’t quite get it yet.

I believe a good sense of humour is essential and helps us find balance.

Why writing? I ask myself. I always loved the sound of my dad’s typewriter. I learned to type on it and loved the rhythm of the keys and how I knew I had hit the wrong key just by the sound. I think all of this is relevant when choosing my instrument of communication. In the end as they say we all have a story to tell.

Although I have many ideas to publish along the lines of fiction, I have for some time wanted to just have a web page that is more personal, where I can share thoughts, philosophy, photos, inspirational quotes, funny stories, lists of recommended books and movies, recipes, etc. as well as having my blog. I feel a need to just put it out there.

So that’s what I’m doing now. Not dreaming it, DOING IT!

*This portrait of me writing was drawn for me on my 4th birthday by a close friend who saw the writer within, I guess.

Additional information

I have family scattered around the world. It probably stems from my maternal grandfather who was a merchant seaman. He became a sailor at age 13, literally jumping onto a ship from Liverpool docks. In 1958 he took his young family, including my mum who was 21, overland to Africa, crossing the Sahara desert. On arriving in Nigeria my mum met my dad, a civil engineer who was living and working there. My brother was born in Nigeria and many of my cousins were born in Africa.

These events do influence your development in a positive way I believe and for me has meant I have a broader view of what I call 'home'. It has also meant, for someone of my generation, that I've always been the odd one out, either as only English girl (add to that, sole blonde and blue-eyed) in a Spanish village classroom or the one with the Spanish accent in the English schools.
